Brian Walike’s strengths are negotiating good contracts for his clients and getting the most money for his sellers. In addition, he feels that getting value for his buyers whether they be first time buyers or experienced move-up buyers is paramount. His construction experience makes him better equipped to interpret home inspection reports for his clients.
Brian’s hobbies include cooking, gardening, golf and collecting and drinking rare wines. He has enjoyed traveling to Europe and has even sailed with past clients in the Mediterranean Sea. He has a wife, Karin and three daughters, Erika, Rachel and Sara. Brian is also a grandfather to three grandchildren, Noah, Ireland and Lucas.
Brian Walike’s History in Real Estate:
Brian began his real estate career in 1979 when interest rates skyrocketed to 17.5%! As the market rebounded, he found that he enjoyed selling investment properties and established relationships with a few CPA s in Palo Alto, CA. He placed many high-net-worth clients into affordable single family homes when, at the time, the value of homes was less than $100,000. He also understood that, as a real estate agent he had no retirement account, and began buying single family homes for himself.
Brian and a small group of Brokers who wanted to open and own their own brokerage purchased a Better Homes Realty franchise based in Danville, CA. He was owner of that company from 1987 to 2012. During that time a second huge downturn occurred in 2007. Foreclosures were everywhere as many homeowners walked away from their homes. Brian established relationships with the largest banks and servicing companies and sold the foreclosed homes for them. Some of his clients consisted of Bank of America, Chase, Wells Fargo, Indy Mac Bank and Countrywide Home Loans. This experience provided Brian with much insight into the loss side of big institutions and the cost of construction and maintenance of single family homes.
In 2012, Brian decided to take a step back from the rigors of business ownership and focus, full time, on working for his clients. He has remained a long time Agent for Better Homes Realty in Granite Bay, CA .
